These earrings feature intricate raised designs inspired by those found on the Ardagh Chalice, an 8th century chalice (large two handled silver cup) so named because it was discovered by two young men digging near an ancient ring fort in a field near the village of Ardagh in County Limerick in 1868 having lain buried for many years. Each is made from sterling silver and ornamented with a circle of unusual Irish gold, mined in Ireland. The back of each earring is smooth silver. 2cm in length.
